Why are we invested in this ministry?
- We want students in our community to know they are loved by God, and know they are loved by us too!
- We are all disciples/apprentices of someone or something. The world offers us many people, opportunities and ideas to follow that shape us into the people we’re becoming. But we believe, that God, the Creator and King of this world, knows the best way to live. “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” -John 14:6. We are disciples of Jesus Christ, and we want the children in our community and their families to join us on this journey following Jesus, too.
- There are plenty of wonderful athletic opportunities already available in our community and school, but there are not many opportunities for our young students to learn to appreciate music.
Why is music so important?
o Where the world currently offers us plenty of opportunities for division, music is meant to unite us. Where else do we see beauty result from our differences uniting? You can sing high, but I can sing low and together we become a beautiful harmony.
o Music is a life-long love and skill. Even at an elderly age, we will be able to sing or play an instrument.
o When we study and practice a skill, our appreciation for it grows even more.
o There’s a special connection with music and memory. When we’re taught truths or Bible verses in song, we can recall them well into adulthood when we need to be reminded of them in our trials.
o God invites all of us to participate in and lead others to worship Him. Even our kindergarteners can learn that God uses them. They can stand before a congregation and sing praises to God and remind even adults of truths that we all need to remember.
What you can expect from us:
- Trained, volunteer teachers who love God and love you and your family, and who are committed to preparing and implementing lessons weekly
What we expect from you:
- We understand things come up occasionally, but it is important for the whole choir to have everyone there weekly for the entire time (pick up starts at 5:45 and ends at 6pm)
- and participate in the 2 performances (Christmas and one in the spring).
o Their confidence is dramatically hindered when they don’t feel prepared (due to missing weekly practices) and when only a few of their choir members show up for the performance. Your child is an important part of the choir – we need him/her, and they need to see you supporting them!
Thank you for entrusting your child in our care! We hope your family is blessed through this program!
